Welcome to the University of Georgia Women's Lacrosse Club Homepage.
The DAWGs are in Denver and the 2008 WDIA Women's National Championship tournament is in full swing.
What a day for Dawgs fans--the adenaline was flowing full force all day.
The day started against Boston College. Right from the start, it was a see-saw event. The game was tied 7-7 at halftime after the Dawgs let the Eagles catch up just prior to the horn.
The second half did not begin well for the Dawgs, and they fell behind 3 goals and could not seem to catch up. With 10 minutes to go, they fired up and tied the score at 10, only to fall behind again 12-10 with just 3 minutes to go. They dug down deep, and tied the score with less than a minute to go, forcing overtime.
The Dogs struck first in the OT and pushed ahead to a 14-13 lead. They were unable to hold off the Eagles and who capitalized on 2 Dawgs errors and prevailed 15-14.
After this setback, the Dawgs played Army for the 11th/12th place in the tournament. After coming out shakey and being down 6-3, they Bulldawgs came out of the house and fired in 7 unanswerd goals. They eventually lead 15-10, but went cold in the last 10 minutes and did not score. Army tied the game with 5 seconds to go, forcing a second overtime game for Georgia.
The crowd fired up up the Dawgs, and they dominated the overtime, scoring 2 unanswered goals and successfully killing the clock.
Final Score: Georgia 17, Army 15.
Georgia finished the tournament with a 2-2 recond, securing 11th place. The Dawgs final record was 14-8 for the year.
The team fondly bids fairwell to their departing seniors who have played keys roles in the Dawg's success over the past years:
Kaylen Keith
Lindsay Ruderman
Christine Stuckey
Katelyn Laboon
Arden Kern
Thanks to all the Fans and Family who came to Denver to cheer on the Dawgs. It was great to share our success with you!
